Starting in April, Google will consider whether a site is mobile friendly when ranking sites for mobile users. What does this mean for your website? It means it is time to make sure you have a mobile-friendly website.
Why? Take a moment and think about how many people now use smart phones and tablets every day. If you have a local Mexican restaurant in Portland and someone in your area searches for Mexican restaurants on their phone - you want to found for that search, right? After next month, if your website isn't mobile friendly it will be less likely to pop up near the top or even on the first page.
This could really shake up local searches, and it is anticipated that this update will affect more searches than previous Google algorithm updates (which is really saying something!)
If you have an old site that can't be made mobile friendly, this is really the time to consider an update.
